About Us | Dr. Chelsey Miller
Dr. Chelsey Miller grew up in the foothills of North Carolina on a farm outside of Mount Airy. She spent her childhood helping her parents’ work their small herd of cattle, eagerly waiting for the next Hanoverian foal to hit the ground, and riding dressage with her Quarter Horse mare, Super Star. Dr. Miller completed her undergraduate education at Duke University where she obtained a double major in Biology and Biological Anthropology and Anatomy, in addition to a minor in Chemistry.
Travelling the short distance to Raleigh, Dr. Miller obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she focused on equine medicine and surgery. Dr. Miller then pursued a post-doctoral internship at the internationally renowned New Bolton Center - the University of Pennsylvania’s large animal campus in Kennett Square, PA. Dr. Miller knew that the New Bolton Center was the perfect place for her as it has one of the highest case loads of any academic large animal hospital in the United States, seeing approximately 6,000 large animal cases per year, and offering the most advanced veterinary care available. At the New Bolton Center, Dr. Miller gained experience in neonatal intensive care, ophthalmology, advanced diagnostic imaging, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, emergency and critical care of horses, cattle, alpaca, goats, and sheep, in addition to the occasional camel, bison, and pig.
Dr. Miller then journeyed back to North Carolina and began working at Iron Will Veterinary Services in the spring of 2013. In addition to ophthalmology, Dr. Miller has special interests in neonatal medicine, pre-purchase examinations, and sport horse medicine and lameness.
